Metaplanet Invests Over $26 Million in the Purchase of 319 BTC

The Japanese investment company Metaplanet has announced the successful purchase of 319 bitcoins (BTC) for nearly 3.78 billion yen, which amounts to approximately $26.4 million at the time of the announcement. This deal has increased the total bitcoin portfolio of the firm to 4,525 BTC.

According to information provided by the company, the average cost of the acquired assets was 11.85 million yen (approximately $82,649 each). In total, Metaplanet has invested about 58.15 billion yen (around $405.7 million) in bitcoin at an average cost of 12.85 million yen ($89,563) per unit.

Return on Investment in Bitcoin

The company’s asset valuation in bitcoins currently stands at $385.5 million. The report also indicates that the return on investment in bitcoin over various periods is as follows:

  • from July 1 to September 30, 2024 — 41.7%;
  • from October 1 to December 31, 2024 — 309.8%;
  • from January 1 to March 31, 2025 — 95.6%;
  • from April 1 to April 14, 2025 — 6.5%.

As of April 14, 2025, bitcoin is trading at around $85,200, according to TradingView data.

Company’s Strategic Moves

Recently, Metaplanet also completed a preliminary agreement to acquire 160 BTC for $13.3 million, which took place on April 2. Additionally, in March, the company appointed Eric Trump, son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, to the newly formed Strategic Advisory Board, highlighting his “business expertise and passion for bitcoin.”
