Decrease in Vegetable Prices Caused Inflation Slowdown in Ukraine in July 2025

In July 2025, Ukraine recorded a decrease in consumer prices of 0.2% compared to June. This trend led to a slowdown in annual inflation: the price increase for the year amounted to 14.1%.

Main Changes in Food Prices

The most noticeable price decrease was observed in the vegetable market, where prices dropped by 23.9% in July. Compared to last year, this figure stands at +17.5%. Additionally, the price of sugar significantly decreased by 2.8%. Overall, prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages fell by 1.1%.

At the same time, some products became more expensive. In particular, fruits, eggs, pasta, meat, cheese, fish, bread, lard, rice, sunflower oil, milk, and dairy products increased in price by 0.3% to 1.7%. The most significant annual increase was seen in egg prices, which rose by 82.4%.

Other Changes in Consumer Prices

Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products became 1.8% more expensive in July, and on an annual basis, they increased by 19.2%. The main reason was the rise in the cost of tobacco products by 2.6%. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear decreased in price by 4.6%, while transportation costs rose by 1.6%.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, global market prices for meat and vegetable oils rose the most in July. The cost of meat reached a historical high, while oil prices hit their highest level in the last three years.
