Labor Market in Ukraine: Frontline Regions Losing Jobs

In April 2025, the number of vacancies in the Ukrainian labor market exceeded 100,000 for the first time. Employers posted 102,814 job offers, which is 4% more than in March. This is evidenced by analytics from the recruitment portal Work.ua.

Situation with Vacancies in Regions

The situation with vacancies in different regions of Ukraine has proven to be asymmetrical. The largest increase in job offers was observed in the following regions:

  • Kirovohrad (+13% compared to March),
  • Chernihiv (+10%),
  • Volyn (+9%),
  • Odesa (+7%),
  • Khmelnytskyi (+6%).

At the same time, frontline regions are experiencing a decrease in the number of vacancies:

  • Kherson (-17%),
  • Donetsk (-4%),
  • Zaporizhzhia (-3%),
  • Sumy (-1%).

Active Employers and Average Salaries

Among the companies that were most active in hiring employees in April, the following stand out:

  • “Aurora” – 1,218 vacancies;
  • “Fora” – 1,061;
  • “Nova Poshta” – 962;
  • “Silpo” – 883;
  • EVA – 855;
  • NOVUS – 845.

Regarding wages, since the beginning of 2025, there has been a trend of a monthly increase in the average salary by ₴500 (about $12). April was no exception – the average salary rose to ₴24,500 (approximately $590). The highest salaries are offered in vacancies related to the Defense Forces, in the IT sector, and in managerial positions.
