Ukraine Plans to Finance Drone Production Through Controlled Arms Exports

Україна скорочуватиме дефіцит фінансування для виробництва дронів завдяки відкриттю контрольованого експорту зброї.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is facing a funding shortage for the production of interceptor drones, although many Ukrainian companies already possess the necessary technologies for their manufacture. To address this issue, funds for the production of drones and other weapons are planned to be obtained through controlled arms exports, for which active negotiations are currently underway.

Controlled Arms Exports: A New Financial Resource for Ukraine

According to the president, weapons that are abundant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be exported to countries in Europe, the USA, as well as states in the Middle East. Additionally, during meetings at the United Nations General Assembly, Ukraine reached agreements for the sale of weapons to certain African countries.

Priority – Supporting the Armed Forces

“The priority is the Armed Forces. Where we produce more, we can export the surplus and have funds that will be spent on deficit goods (interceptor drones, long-range UAVs). Arms exports will be controlled until the end of the war,” the president emphasized.

Zelensky stressed that all domestic weapons will primarily be supplied to the Ukrainian military, with any surplus sold abroad. The funds obtained from exports will be directed towards the production of the most critical items for the army, including interceptor drones and long-range UAVs. Controlled exports will continue until the war is over, allowing for the optimization of funding for Ukraine’s defense sector.
