Growth in the Number and Value of M&A Transactions

Over six months, 34 M&A transactions were concluded in Ukraine. The total value of disclosed transactions reached $716 million, which is 21% higher compared to the same period last year. The number of transactions also increased by 26%. The average size of a single deal rose from $37 million to $42 million. It is known that details about the amounts were disclosed in only half of all agreements.

Key Transactions of the First Half of 2025

Among the most significant market events, it is worth noting the acquisition of the Spanish company Uvesa by the agricultural holding MHP for $270 million, as well as the purchase of the company Uklon by the mobile operator Kyivstar for $155 million. These transactions became the main drivers of market growth.

“Deals like Kyivstar-Uklon and MHP-Uvesa demonstrate a strategic ambition for business expansion and integration, particularly in the technology and agri-food sectors. Despite caution from foreign investors, local leaders are actively investing to strengthen their positions and create business models for the future,” noted analysts from KPMG in Ukraine.

At the same time, the activity of foreign investors remained subdued. In the first half of the year, foreigners acquired four Ukrainian assets, while last year there were six such transactions. Half of these deals were made by European investors, while one each was made by players from the Middle East and North Africa, as well as North America.
