EBRD Invests in Affordable Housing Program

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided a credit line of up to 100 million euros to companies that develop, own, and manage affordable housing projects in Ukraine. These funds are directed towards the implementation of the “Stairs to Prosperity” program, which aims to create a platform for affordable housing for internally displaced persons, the elderly, and war veterans. The program is led by American developer and philanthropist Dell Loy Hansen. The initial tranche of 7.1 million euros will be used to finance the first phase, which includes the construction of two affordable rental housing projects in Kyiv region certified to the EDGE standard. Here, 182 housing units are planned to be created. Subsequent phases aim to expand the program to 1,800 energy-efficient housing units in various regions of the country by 2029.

Internally displaced persons, as well as medical workers, teachers, and other specialists in need, can live in the houses for free.
