The United States has completed preparations for a new sanctions package against the Russian Federation, and Congress, along with the White House, is ready to approve these restrictions soon. This was announced by the US Special Representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.

“The project is called the Russian Sanctions Act 2025. And I think Graham has already prepared them and is ready to implement,” Kellogg said.
Main Focus on the Russian Energy Sector
According to Kellogg, the new sanctions package is “quite burdensome” for Russia. The main blow will fall on the oil and gas sector, which is a key source of revenue for the Russian economy. This sector, as the special representative emphasized, will be the primary target of the sanctions to increase economic pressure on the aggressor.
Ukraine Insists on Coordinating Sanctions with the European Union
Despite the readiness of the sanctions package, the US president is not rushing to implement it. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt explained that Donald Trump left sanctions “as a tool in his arsenal” and may apply them if necessary.
The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, emphasized the effectiveness of the new US sanctions and stressed the importance of synchronizing them with European measures. He noted that the simultaneous imposition of sanctions by the US and the EU could significantly increase pressure on Russia and make the Kremlin reconsider the feasibility of continuing the war.
“If the new sanctions package from the EU and the US is released simultaneously, it will really put pressure on Russia. Putin will stop and go to negotiations only when he feels that continuing the war will cost him dearly,” Yermak emphasized.
