More than 200 combat buggies made from steel provided by the Metinvest group have already been handed over to Ukrainian defenders. This is the result of cooperation between the Operational Command “South” and the public initiative “Buggies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” The latest batch of mobile equipment was received by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The vehicles were assembled as part of the “Steel Front” project, with the metal donated free of charge by the company “Metinvest-SMC,” according to a press release. Since the beginning of 2023, “Metinvest-SMC” has supplied about 150 tons of metal products for the production of this equipment.

The buggies are used on the front lines for reconnaissance, evacuation of the wounded, delivery of ammunition, and performing other combat tasks in challenging areas of the front. “Metinvest” has been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the first days of the large-scale military invasion. According to Alexander Palamarchuk, the customer service director of “Metinvest-SMC,” the company has been supplying metal for the production of buggies free of charge for two years, which are delivered to various fronts to assist the defenders.
The Importance of Support and Expansion of Production
In addition to buggies, the company is producing other items for the Ukrainian army as part of the “Steel Front,” including protective screens to counter FPV drones, which are installed on armored vehicles. Over three years of large-scale invasion, “Metinvest” has directed 8.4 billion UAH to support Ukraine, of which 4.4 billion UAH has been allocated for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the “Steel Front” initiative. This includes the launch of serial production of protective screens for the “Rochelle Senator” armored vehicles and “Stryker” armored personnel carriers, which are actively used on the front lines for transporting personnel and evacuating the wounded.
“We hope that the handed-over vehicles will serve the defenders well and save many lives,” said Alexander Palamarchuk.
