In April 2025, the crypto sector suffered losses amounting to $357.11 million due to hacker attacks, according to data from the analytical platform PeckShield. A total of 18 significant breaches in the crypto industry were recorded during this month.

Experts reported that some teams managed to recover part of the stolen funds. In particular, the teams from zkSync, KiloEx, and Term Labs collectively restored about $14.4 million. The largest losses in April included:
- unauthorized transfer of bitcoins — losses exceeding $330.7 million;
- exploit on KiloEx — $7.5 million, which was successfully recovered;
- breach of the Loopscale platform — $5.8 million;
- exploit on zkSync — $5.4 million, losses were also compensated;
- attack on the frontend of MorphoLabs — $2.6 million.
At the beginning of April, the payment platform UPCX suffered a network attack, during which an attacker stole $70 million in UPC tokens. During the month, new types of hacking attacks were also discovered. Co-founder of the Manta Network project, Kenny Lee, spoke about hacking attempts carried out via the Zoom messenger. Crypto trader Jacob Canfield noted a new type of fraud related to Ledger wallets.
It is worth noting that in the first quarter of 2025, there were over 60 hacker attacks in the crypto sector, resulting in total losses reaching $1.63 billion.
