“The amount of humanitarian, technical, and budgetary support provided to us by Japan is already around $15 billion. We also plan to actively involve businesses in the reconstruction of Ukraine.”
Key Areas of Infrastructure Partnership
Ukraine and Japan are developing joint projects with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Special attention is being paid to three main areas:
- Railway Infrastructure. Within the framework of grant assistance, Ukrzaliznytsia has already received 25,000 tons of rails and heavy construction equipment to ensure stable logistics. There are plans for an additional order of another 3,000 tons of rails.
- Road Infrastructure. Ukraine has received modular bridges for the quick replacement of destroyed structures, as well as a significant number of vehicles and modern equipment for assessing the condition of bridges.
- Port Sector. The State Administration of Maritime and River Transport of Ukraine has replenished its fleet of construction equipment for rapid response to challenges. Further modernization of ports is planned with active participation from businesses, particularly through the implementation of concession projects.
Creating a Platform for Business Initiatives
To attract private capital, Ukraine and Japan have launched a special platform that will facilitate the implementation of promising projects in the field of reconstruction. This tool is designed to enhance cooperation, ensure transparency of processes, and attract leading Japanese companies to the country’s recovery efforts.
