A multimodal terminal for liquid cargo will be built in the Transcarpathian region

На Закарпатті збудують мультимодальний термінал для наливних вантажів з потужністю перевалки 300 000 тонн на рік.

A modern multimodal terminal for the transshipment of liquid cargo and petroleum products is planned to be established in the Transcarpathian region, which will also serve as a base for mixing bioethanol with gasoline. The new complex will be located on the outskirts of the village of Horonda, 17 km from Mukachevo.

Main project characteristics

The future “dry port” will cover an area of about 19 hectares. Its infrastructure will allow for the import and export of various liquid cargoes, including liquefied gas, bioethanol, vegetable oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline. Cargo will arrive by both rail and road, ensuring logistical flexibility.

A distinctive feature of the terminal will be the presence of two railway tracks of different widths: 1,520 mm from the side of Mukachevo and 1,435 mm from the side of Strabichovo, which will facilitate the efficient transportation of cargo in various directions. The annual projected capacity of the terminal will be 300,000 tons: 200,000 tons will be allocated for bioethanol, non-food vegetable oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline, while the remainder will be for liquefied gas.

Investor and strategic significance

The project is initiated by the Poltava energy group of companies “Nadezhda,” which already has a wide network of gas stations and oil depots across Ukraine. As part of the company’s development strategy, it plans to partially relocate its production facilities to Transcarpathia. The new terminal will become the third “dry port” in the region, indicating the growing significance of Transcarpathia as a logistics hub for energy resources and liquid cargo.

“The area of the future ‘dry port’ is approximately 19 hectares. The terminal will handle the import and export of liquefied gas, bioethanol, vegetable oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline, which will arrive by rail and road. It is expected that two tracks of different widths will enter the terminal area – 1,520 mm from the side of Mukachevo and 1,435 mm from the side of Strabichovo. The planned annual capacity of the terminal is 300,000 tons. Of these, bioethanol, non-food vegetable oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline will account for 200,000 tons, while the remainder will be liquefied gas.”
