Specifications and Features of the Cars
The first five cars in the order will serve as a pilot batch. These are innovative next-generation cars with an 80% longer service life, modern control systems, and increased capacity – up to 44 passengers in a compartment car, which is 10% more than the traditional standard. Thanks to the use of stainless steel bodies, the operational lifespan of the cars will be up to 50 years, which exceeds the usual service life of passenger cars by 20 years.
Expansion and Financing
Out of the entire order, five cars will have the ability to be transformed from compartment cars into SV class cars, and one car will be adapted for transporting passengers with disabilities. The estimated cost of each car is ₴95 million, while the inclusive car is ₴98.3 million.
“Ukrzaliznytsia” plans to expand the rolling stock renewal program if additional budget funding is secured, particularly by increasing the share of next-generation cars in the company’s fleet.
