In Ukraine, over 760 MW of gas distributed generation was introduced in 2025

В Україні за 2025 рік запустили понад 760 МВт розподіленої газової генерації.

In 2025, municipal enterprises, private, and state companies in Ukraine commissioned 762 MW of new gas generation. This result is part of a large-scale development of a decentralized energy system, which remains one of the key directions for the state in the context of war.

Decentralization of Energy as a Strategic Direction

Distributed generation in Ukraine encompasses not only gas capacities but also renewable energy facilities and energy storage systems. This approach ensures the resilience and reliability of the energy system, reduces dependence on centralized sources, and enhances the country’s energy security.

Household Leadership and State Support

The largest number of new energy stations has been built by households. These mainly consist of solar power plants with capacities ranging from 5 to 30 kW. They are implemented under the green tariff model or as active consumers with state support within the framework of the interest-free loan program.

“Currently, the largest number of stations has been constructed by households. These are solar power plants with capacities ranging from 5 to 30 kW and are implemented under the green tariff model or the active consumer model with state support within the framework of the state interest-free loan program,” noted the Ministry of Energy.

In the business segment, as well as among state and municipal institutions, projects with solar power plants and cogeneration units with capacities ranging from 100 kW to 2 MW prevail. Projects are usually implemented considering their own energy consumption needs.

Active cooperation with international donors, particularly through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, allows the state to implement more projects and strengthen the resilience of the national energy system.
