Ukrainian researchers, in collaboration with colleagues from the USA and Poland, are working on the development of innovative concrete designed for 3D printing buildings. The main feature of this technology is the use of debris from destroyed structures as secondary raw material. This approach reduces environmental impact and facilitates effective infrastructure reconstruction.

Eco-Friendliness and New Technologies in Construction
In addition to building debris, the new concrete mixture is planned to include other industrial and agricultural waste. This will not only reduce the amount of waste but also promote sustainable development in the construction industry. As part of an international project, scientists will create a unique concrete recipe and production technology, which they plan to apply for the construction of both civilian and military facilities in three countries.
Reconstruction of Ukraine and Waste Volumes
The project is designed for two years and aims to implement fast, sustainable, and affordable construction technologies to restore housing in Ukraine. Currently, over 13,000 tons of construction waste have been delivered to special sites for temporary storage in the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to experts, the actual volume of waste in the region exceeds 150,000 tons. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 6,500 civilian facilities in the region have suffered partial damage or complete destruction.
“The uniqueness of the development lies in the use of debris from destroyed structures as secondary raw material, which will contribute to ecological and effective reconstruction.”
