Кияни масово виступили проти підвищення тарифів на транспорт - 96% не підтримали ініціативу

The stage of public discussion regarding the project to raise prices for public transport in Kyiv has concluded. The overwhelming majority of participants in the discussion categorically opposed the initiative: 96% of the votes were against the changes.

This is reported by Business • Media

“96% of participants did not support the proposed changes”.

The voting took place on the official platform of the Kyiv City State Administration from May 18 to June 1 and was advisory in nature. According to the results of the discussion, only 44 people voted for the fare increase, while 1317 expressed their opposition. Additionally, participants submitted 307 proposals for alternative options and comments on the project. Despite the active involvement of residents, the results of the consultations are not binding for the authorities.

Alternative proposals for fares

The public organization “Passengers of Kyiv” proposed an alternative approach to fare formation during the discussion. Instead of a one-time increase, a flexible hourly payment system is suggested:

  • 20 UAH — a trip lasting up to 45 minutes;
  • 30 UAH — 90 minutes of transport use;
  • 80 UAH — a daily ticket;
  • 1000 UAH — a monthly pass.

City plans regarding fare changes

Despite the negative public reaction, city leaders have a different approach to fare policy. Starting from July 15, 2026, new prices for travel may be introduced in Kyiv:

  • 30 UAH — a single trip;
  • 1088 UAH — a pass for 46 trips;
  • 4875 UAH — an unlimited monthly pass.

The authorities explain the need for fare increases by the rising costs of maintaining transport infrastructure. At the same time, the majority of consultation participants oppose the price increase. The final decision regarding the new fares will be made after all consultation procedures are completed.
